The Chosen ONEness

 In Self-Mastery

Self Realisation is the natural choice of life in the body. The Chosen ONEness.

Yes, it is a choice! No, it’s not only for the chosen ones or special few. It is available for all and it is available NOW.

This may feel like a stupendous revelation or it may feel completely natural. Whatever the reaction, it tells you something.

The truth is that you cannot not be Realised Self, Infinite Silence or Isness as it is referred to on this site. However, you can choose to believe in thoughts that you are not that and thus create the experience of suffering. When the Buddha said Life is suffering what he was referring to was the identified life, identified with ego.

So rather amazingly this is the choice to Self Realise or not or perhaps put another way to Self Realise or go with the ego.

Now, it is important to understand here there is no intention to make ego out as the bad guy so to speak. Far from that, actually, ego serves some very important functions. Someone once asked a sage (it may have been Ramana Maharshi). How much ego does one need? The answer just enough to cross the road safely. What this means is that as far as certain practical matters are concerned like the body’s safety in crossing a road then acceptance of it as in need of protection and, for now at least, separate from the oncoming traffic is a good idea. Miracles of consciousness are possible but for everyday purposes its just common sense to live in this practical way.

Aside from that, the fundamental role of ego is to bring you back to yourSELF. Yes!

The system is perfect. Its means involve suffering but when you have had enough of that, as many have experienced, and there is a total surrender realisation can and does occur. The surrender must be absolute.

Perhaps you hadn’t thought of or realised that role of ego before but you can see now it is fundamental.

So, the question may arise. Is it necessary to have incredible suffering for the realisation to occur. No, not really. You see in each moment you are at choice:

Head or Heart? Ego or True Self. Both pointing at the same thing.

Can it really be this simple? Actually, Self Realisation is both the simplest and greatest gift of Life unto Life. You are that Life. Pure and Simple.

It is in the absoluteness of the simplicity that many get lost in the minefield of ego.

It will question everything about you, be the doubter, the pusher, the puller, the cunning fox and more. None of this can be trusted about who you really are for it is based on a false premise and and an incredibly limited view of the totality rooted in thought, memory, belief, identification and attachment. A potent cocktail of suffering that is drank in huge quantities every day.

So let us look more closely at this choice! It is here NOW. Always it is here. Never has it not been here.

Ego may be off on one but there is still choice.

It is what I refer to as the STOP, LOOK, LISTEN approach. Just like you learnt when crossing the road. It saves your life. This, in spiritual terms, will save your life in a different way. Bring an end to suffering. Is that a choice worth making? Absolutely YES.

It’s your choice and yours alone. There is no higher power than your highest, true SELF.

So STOP right here right NOW. STOP.

Do not buy into the train of thought. It will go to many stations and none of them are your truth.

As you STOP. If you LOOK closely a gap or pause occurs. It may be brief but it is there.

Use this moment NOW to ask Who am I?

Ego may give a very limited answer but do not listen to that. LISTEN to the heart. Keep on asking the question of the heart. Bend to LISTEN to its quiet voice. Keep on asking if need be, keep on bending to LISTEN.

You can do this as you go about your daily life, walking down the street. You can do it at the beginning and end of meditation. Keep on using it. This one tool and this one question can change everything. For ultimately, in exploring this question:

Who AM I? The question dissolves the questioner and the SELF IS Realised.

So simple! Yes.

What does it mean you may wonder, “…the question dissolves the questioner?” It means that in the repeated exploration of this question ignoring the small answers of ego and LISTENING to the SILENCE of the heart. You will find ultimately, that who YOU are is the ONEness, the REALISED SELF. Infinite Silence or Isness. The dissolution occurring is of the identified egoic self into and as the ONEness.

It won’t require you to believe anything that is said here or elsewhere for that matter. It won’t require to learn anything. It will simply invite you to let go of ALL that you are NOT so that that which you are may be revealed and experientially REALISED.

The Chosen ONEness.

Blessings in Infinite Silence,

Philip

Wow, the words in this post are re-aligning and helping to allow further dropping away of illusion for me. I dropped more deeply into the bliss of the Infinite Silence while reading. I am finding I am marinading in this realized self more and more. I am now so very Aware its Always here, always there in the background. It is only situations that can cause the awareness to be more faded. I only need to ask the question. Who am I? Or read profound words of wisdom, and a wave of peaceful, joyful & blissful realization opens up again. Re-awakening/Marinading deeper and deeper each day. Thank you for your tips and pointers Philip. Some days I want to focus on nothing else but the Infinite Silence, which is not always possible unfortunately! So learning to find the balance of living a busy Realized Life. Its becoming so much fun! ;)<

Blessings Dee and this is indeed beautiful to read your experience of this. You are wide open and receptive to it and so in reading the truth pointed at here it is resonant with that which you are and so it becomes your experience. How beautiful is that? For YOU are already it. The True SELF.

It is particularly wonderful that you are also experiencing the power of the Who Am I question. Keep on with this and you will find your SELF resting in your SELF more and more of time until it becomes your constant awareness.

In a way it’s not so much a balance as a harmony. In this world but not of it. The knowingness, the Insation will be ever present yet you will still be able to function. Fun indeed!

So thankful for these postings! I am at the point now where it is becoming impossible not to speak from the heart, whilst equally recognising to not identify with any ‘drama’. Standing firm in Truth is not really what others wish to hear, however I am finding that it is not right now to be any other way. It almost ‘feels’ like a rebellion, which actually, I guess it is. Also when faced with decisions when coming from the IS, it’s so freeing and uplifting even when the situation ‘appears’ to be upsetting or sad. There’s space, too. I realise now that I am not responsible for how others think, feel, etc. That is totally their responsibility, and choice. The whole concept of personality with all its complexities is an absolute lie. The transience of this world and everything in it is becoming more and more apparent. Little wonder that Jesus said, ‘be in this world, but not of it’. Longing now for the cloak of illusion to just fall away, leaving No thing.

Bless you Christine, and thanks for sharing.

It is true ‘apparent others’ don’t always want to hear truth. It can create fear based responses from some people if they fixed in their ego world view. To others it can be uplifting. It is important to go with one’s heart, one’s highest truth in other words and this can always be spoken from a place of love and respect whilst being anchored in that truth.

The feeling like ‘rebellion’ part is likely a function of the fact that in general we have been conditioned to be a certain way that is not truth and one is shifting from that and noticing it. Just witness this feeling from the Silence and it will pass. It will no longer feel rebellious which may be a bit of ego hanging on but instead feel aligned and peaceful.

Sadness is a letting go energy. Just simply witness that too and it too will pass.

Indeed you are not responsible for how others feel that is totally driven by them but this does not we aren’t respectful of course. You are seeing ever more clearly through the illusion and this is truly beautiful. Your comments remind me of several related insights you might like to read:

Thank you Philip. It all seems like a re-conditioning in a way from what appears to be everything (ego) to nothing. Yet there is nothing to be re-conditioned! Just watching/experiencing more and more now for that space to not react to people, situations, etc. Anything really that might normally before this awareness, result in participating in the play instead of merely witnessing.

Reading your post Debbie triggered many thoughts for me, and your reply too Philip.
While I can resonate with what has been said it isn’t always fear that stops me dealing with situations, it’s an imbalance of worth.
Particularly when I love and care about somethings/someone, particularly too when that somethings/someone has shown love and care to me. It feels disloyal and disrespectful to say what I think if it’s contrary to what the something/someone thinks.
The more I meditate a situation in IS, the more I love my true self, the more I realise that not acting when my true heart is bringing awareness, the more I suffer, and this is disrespectful to myself, plummeting my self worth in the process.
The only respectful way forward has to be following my heart and true self, and if my words or actions don’t create peace and harmony, sad as it feels I let go of the someone/something completely, relinquishing responsibility, which isn’t my responsibility anyway, holding tight to my true self/worth projecting unconditional love.
It’s a process of confusion, pain, and sadness until I let go, but letting go is freeing and projecting love is the best my true self can do.
I wish I had realised this years ago!
Although this feels knowingly true to me, what are your views on what I have said Philip?

Your insights are serving you well Julie and will continue to deepen the more you open into and merge with your highest truth for you are that and are gradually remembering it. This is beautiful.

The thing is that all choices that are not fully aligned with your heart and thus highest truth are ultimately rooted in fear.

It takes many guises, for instance, fear that I am not good enough or worth this or fear that I will upset another’s feelings. Yes these are fears also. There’s a difference between being considerate of others and actually and not following your heart. The latter will bring suffering as you say and that has nothing to do with considerate behaviour and everything to do with fear of consequences for instance being another facet of none action on your hearts calling. You see?

In the response to Debbie your will see that I have offered the insight that once you are crystal clear on your hearts calling on anything then that is in your highest and greatest good. This is beautiful because it turns out that what is in your highest and greatest good is also in everyone else’s also. It is also noted that others may not see it this way. This is because they are more than likely in ego on the issue in question and cannot see yet or possibly may not wish to see what you can. This may change for them over time or it may not depending on how attached they are to how things have been.

Once clear on your truth it can be spoken with Grace, Peace and Love to others whilst recognising their position but still be sure of foot in your own highest good.

    Dear Philip,

What a beautiful post. And as always your words and insights are like a beacon of light when I find myself feeling stuck or as you say suffering.

A couple of days ago I had an experience that really unsettled me, had me questioning who I was, my self-worth, what value I bring to the world.
Each day after I found myself getting more and more stressed and angry about it, and although I knew all I had to do was ‘stop’ and take time out
and meditate on it, I found myself making excuses that I didn’t have time. And of course, it just continued to fester!

So today FINALLY I decided to put some time aside to do your guided meditation, and I’m so glad I did. What came up was around raising my standards
and the realisation that to do that I have to let go of stuff that no longer serves me. However, while letting go of material stuff is relatively easy letting go of
people brings up a whole new challenge because we don’t want to hurt people and of course, this requires us to really step into our truth.

Why is it that we would rather suffer than face the music – it’s like I have become afraid to speak up or speak my truth because of the belief that I might hurt someone in process outways what I believe to best for me….? Of course, I know that that’s what I must meditate/work on next! 🙂

Bless you Debbie and wonderful to hear that it spoke to you and well done for finally sitting down and giving yourself the space to meditate on this.

People suffer rather than face the music in the main because the fear of making the change is perceived to be greater than staying as they are! All sorts of reasons will come up from ego for this but none of them are valid when your heart truly knows that the change is the right one for you! Once you have clarity on what your heart calls you to, it is wise to go for it and release any fears around it. This will serve to deepen the clarity and resolve and you can use the meditation for this process.

See this link which sets out the very simple way to do this: https://gatewaylocation.org/?s=Transmuting+fear+into+love

I would also point you at this post (below) which also contains two videos which expand up why its important to trust your heart. The post is called: Trusting and Daring NOT to! For good reason. Most people dare not to trust their heart and suffer as a result.

A very important awareness to have as part of this is that once you are crystal clear on what your heart calls you towards and thus this is what I call your highest and greatest good. It is also automatically in everyone else’s highest and greatest good. Some may not think that but it will be even if they can’t see it yet.

      Trust is key: https://gatewaylocation.org/trusting-and-daring-not-to/
