Words or Silence

 In Self-Mastery

“Words, at best, are an honest lie; Silence, at worst, a naked verity.”

Mikhail Naimy, The Book of Mirdad (a great read by the way).

This is one of the very few quotes I will share from time to time in the context of Self Realisation. For clarity, since verity is not in such common usage in this context it is pointing to fundamental truth.

One will never realise ultimate truth through words or the mind.

In Silence you will realise truth. In truth, you will realise you are Silence.

Yet words are important in everyday life though frequently misunderstood, misinterpreted and misused and we’ve all done that – a lot!

Sometimes when sharing with people simply sitting in Silence comes up as a topic i.e. saying nothing at all. The Silence within is ever present anyway though mostly it’s not recognised. We could take out all the discussion and just simply rest in, as and through silence. Sometimes that unfolds also. Meditation.

Words or Silence Gateway Location

You could attend a 10 Day Silent Retreat (never done that by the way). It could be very beneficial for you or not. I’ve heard of both cases.

I’ve witnessed with amusement many arguments and opinions over words in sharing this message. It happens, it’s OK. One manifestation might be summarised as: “My words are better than your words.” Really?

Words by their nature are dualistic and easily misunderstood. Whose words are the right words? Who is the ultimate authority on them? Who knows? No one.

Another manifestation is circular arguments essentially negating everything with its opposite. It’s not always a simple read.

Words (read thoughts = beliefs) see quote above again.

Here’s what I’ve found to be truly helpful:

It’s the essence the words are emerging from that really matters. When they are emerging as an expression ‘called for’ from the Silence and as unfiltered as practical. They carry the energetic signature of Silence with them. What does that mean?

It means, if you’re willing, open, humble enough the guidance, insight, or pointing assists in the recognition, realisation of what’s already present in you, through you, as you.

The precise words are thus less important than the space in which they are coming from.

It’s relatively straightforward to tell when someone is offering an opinion, read belief. One can sense it feel it.

The same is true with an insight from within. It is inviting, inspiring, uplifting, expansive and often surprising.

The words are not it and can become a trap!

Silence IS.

The rarefied atmosphere of Silence.

Don’t believe a word I say, truth is an experience not a belief.
